Element 4.2.2: Professional standards
Professional standards guide practice, interactions and relationships.
Professional standards for management, staff and educators working in education and care settings encompasses a number of standards and practices that guide professional conduct and ensure the delivery of high-quality education and care. Educator qualifications are a requirement under the NQF for services providing care to preschool age children and under. At least 50 per cent of educators working with children preschool age and under must have, or be actively working towards, at least an approved diploma level education and care qualification
Ensure that an up-to-date record of educator qualifications is kept on file in their professional development folder. This includes all professional development that educators undertake, as well as documenting the progress of educator’s working towards an approved qualification.
Staff profiles – Displaying staff qualifications on an educator profile board showcases educator’s achievements and demonstrates professional practice.
Additionally, sharing educator’s ongoing professional development in your newsletter is a great way to inform families of the areas in which educators are updating their knowledge and demonstrates continual improvement.
