QIP Nudges

Continuous Improvement

Welcome to our weekly quality improvement support series for 2024.

“It’s our polite nudge in the ribs to help you and your team stay organised and on task.”

This week’s subject is: Continuous improvement.

Element 7.2.1: There is an effective self-assessment and quality improvement process in place.

Is your QIP up to date and an accurate representation of the quality practices and current goals being achieved by the Service?

With the implementation of reduced notification periods for assessment and rating, it’s imperative that your service’s QIP is kept up to date and is an accurate reflection of the service’s current quality practices and quality improvement goals to ensure that it’s ready for submission at the time of notification of assessment and rating. Under the adjusted notification periods (implemented in July 2024), services will receive 5 (business) days’ notice for most assessment and rating visits and will be required to submit the service QIP within 2 days following notification of A&R. The reduced notice periods have been implemented to promote the assessment of the quality of education and care that children experience every day.

An effective cycle of continuous improvement includes reviewing:

    • the extent to which the service meets or exceeds the National Quality Standard
    • the performance of all staff members
    • how the service and its practices are delivered in accordance with the approved learning frameworks
    • the outcomes for children at the service against the learning outcomes in these frameworks
    • feedback, input and complaints from children and families.
