Element 3.2.3: Environmentally responsible.
The service cares for the environment and supports children to become environmentally responsible.
Does your program, routines and practices provide children with various opportunities to care for, appreciate and respect the natural environment and develop an understanding of the interrelationship between people, plants, animals and the land?
The educational program must embed opportunities to foster children’s capacity to understand their environmental responsibility. Educators play a vital role in achieving this, by role modeling sustainable practices and using these as teachable moments to initiate meaningful discussion to support children to develop an understanding of our environmental responsibility and the impact our actions have on the environment.
Within System7 go to QA3 / Modules 11, 12, 13 and 14 (which focus on; natural elements, sustainability practices, how this is shared with families and also embedded into children’s learning) to submit self-assessment notes and if required, open a QIP issue if you detect compliance gaps or areas of improvement.
